Time and Simulation Rules
Simulation advances in deterministic ticks. The same seed and choices produce the same world evolution.
Last updated: 2026-02-27
Key Mechanics
- One tick represents one in-world day.
- Auto-time defaults to 1 day per 30 seconds.
- Yearly lifecycle checks run every 365 ticks.
- Pending choice states halt further progression.
What You Control
- Set auto-time on/off and speed.
- Run manual increments (+1 day, +1 month, +1 year).
- Use catch-up for elapsed real-time progress.
What Remains Autonomous
- Needs, activity, ambient thought, profession, education, and faith cycles update automatically.
- If simulation is not paused, catch-up can summarize elapsed progress from last session.
Deep Dive
Determinism is enforced server-side for debugging and balancing.
Rate and budget controls gate narrative/model overlays without breaking core simulation.
If paused, offline progression is intentionally suspended until resumed.
